‘Bachelorette’ Tayshia Adams Says ‘Everyone’s in for a Shock’
Tayshia Adams is officially the new Bachelorette, after Clare Crawley found love with contestant Dale Moss. “Extra's” Rachel Lindsay, a former Bachelorette herself, caught up with Tayshia on Monday.
The last we saw Adams on the show, host Chris Harrison told her, “Tayshia, unfortunately, everything is about to change.” So what does he mean? Tayshia teased, “This season is unprecedented, okay? And he means it.”
She added, “I'm going to spice it up — there's something coming.”
Rachel tried to use her experience to get some answers, saying, “You could tell me what's about to change...”
Tayshia would only smile and say, “Everyone's in for a shock.”
Rachel commented, “Obviously, you're coming in after Clare. How much did you know about what was going on with Clare's season?”
Tayshia replied, “I didn't know much, but I did ask some questions as to… 'Where are the guys' headspace? Like, is there multiple men that are really in love with Clare, and that it's going to be difficult for me to even get myself a chance?' And they assured me that there are a lot of them there that hadn't had the opportunity to really show themselves. They were looking for love, and at that time I felt like, 'You know what? I'm just going to give it a shot.'”
Sharing what some of her fears were coming into the show, Adams said, “My biggest concern is the fact that I'm not Clare and I was hoping that they were willing to give me a chance.”
Tayshia is getting a second chance at finding love: she is the first divorced Bachelorette. “I know how much work a marriage takes,” she said, “and I think that with that, that eliminates a lot of men that I would usually give a chance to, and those are some of the tough questions that I have with a lot of guys right out of the gate.”
So what is she looking for? “Someone who is close with their family, someone that is honest and loyal, also someone that just wants to build an empire and wants a partner in life.”
Rachel had to ask, “Are you engaged?” but Tayshia played coy, saying, “I don't know! You will just have to wait and see.”
“The Bachelorette” airs Tuesday on ABC.
