Eboni Williams Says New Season of ‘RHONY’ Will Be About the ‘Boss Women of New York’
“Extra's” Cheslie Kryst caught up with Eboni Williams today, who's joining the cast of “The Real Housewives of New York.”
Eboni is thrilled to be part of the franchise, gushing, “It's still surreal!” She added, “I am an unapologetic fan of the show. I have seen every episode of 'Real Housewives of New York'… and for 13 years, or for 12 years, there were no Black women a part of that franchise… And I'm thrilled that Bravo… decided this was the year to make that right, and I'm just honored, Cheslie. I mean, New York is full of brilliant and beautiful successful Black women. It could have been anyone.”
The show chose Eboni, a 37-year-old lawyer, author, host, and executive producer of Revolt Black News. She has already started filming for “RHONY,” revealing, “We are deep into filming… Filming during a pandemic is a lot… We are testing very frequently. We are socially distancing. We are doing everything we can to put safety [first], not only for our cast but our crew, because that's the utmost importance.”
She revealed that the show will be about the “boss women of New York,” noting that Leah McSweeney, Sonja Morgan, Ramona Singer and Luann de Lesseps all have business endeavors.
“There has been so much support and enthusiasm,” she said. “We're kind of harkening back… to kind of the era of 'RHONY' where it was all about the boss women of New York, you know what I mean? It was all about entrepreneurship and building businesses from the ground up… and that's what this season is going to be about again with myself and my castmate Leah McSweeney, who has her own clothing line, and even Sonja's got a line and Ramona's got a business and Lu's got the cabaret.”
Eboni already connected with Leah, who was blowing up her phone during our interview. “It's all Leah, by the way. This is Leah McSweeney texting me a million things. I'm like, 'Girl, I'll get back to you in a minute.'… Leah and I just have so many random deep-seated things in common.”
And she hopes to get to know Ramona better. “I'm coming in with an open heart and an open mind. I want to get to know her… Listen, if somebody needs to be gathered, they'll be gathered, but at the same time, I'm not above it. I expect to get it as good as I give it, Ches, so here we are. Let the games begin.”
