Celebrities React to Breonna Taylor Decision
On Wednesday, the Kentucky grand jury indicted only one of the three cops involved in the shooting of Breonna Taylor, who was killed in March.
Former Louisville police officer Brett Hankison was indicted on three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment. The charges were not directly related to Taylor's death, but were instead for endangering the lives of her neighbors.
Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron said in a statement, “There will be celebrities, influencers and activists who have never lived in Kentucky who try to tell us how to feel, suggesting they understand the facts of this case, and that they know our community and the commonwealth better than we do. But they do not.”
Stars Seek Justice In Breonna Taylor’s Killing on Her 27th Birthday
View StoryIn a statement to “Extra,” George Clooney said, “I was born and raised in Kentucky. Cut tobacco on the farms of Kentucky. Both my parents and my sister live in Kentucky. I own a home in Kentucky, and I was there last month. The justice system I was raised to believe in holds people responsible for their actions. Her name was Breonna Taylor and she was shot to death in her bed by 3 white police officers, who will not be charged with any crime for her death. I know the community. I know the commonwealth. And I was taught in the schools and churches of Kentucky what is right and what is wrong. I'm ashamed of this decision.”
Other celebrities who reacted to the news were similarly outraged.
Viola Davis tweeted, “Bulls— decision!!! BLACK LIVES MATTER!!! Cannot be said enough times.”
Kerry Washington slammed Cameron over the decision, tweeting, “Daniel Cameron is on Donald Trump's short list as replacement of #RGB on the Supreme Court. The same man who decided to not charge the officers responsible for killing #BreonnaTaylor. Vote.”
Oprah Winfrey tweeted, “My heart goes out to Tamika Palmer, who has to be reminded, again and again, that her 'baby won't be coming through that door.' #BreonnaTaylor.”
Justin Bieber wrote on his Instagram Story, “Shame on you Kentucky. Breonna Taylor deserves justice.”

Brett Hankison is indicted for shooting into the apartment NEXT to Breonna Taylor & not for KILLING HER.

He's fired for shooting into BREONNA TAYLOR'S apartment & not for KILLING HER.
This is systemic racism.
