Kelly Clarkson’s Surprise Confession About Her Divorce
On Monday, Kelly Clarkson addressed her divorce from husband Brandon Blackstock on the Season 2 premiere of her show “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
Clarkson revealed of 2020 that it "has brought a lot of change, also to my personal life. Definitely didn't see anything coming that came.”
“What I'm dealing with is hard because it involves more than just my heart, it involves a lot of little hearts. We have four kids, and divorce is never easy," Kelly admitted. "We're both from divorced families. We know the best thing here is to protect our children and their little hearts."
For the sake of their kids, Clarkson explained that she'll refrain from sharing too much about the split. She explained, “I'm usually very open and I usually talk about everything, but in this case I will talk about a little bit here and there about how (the divorce) affects me personally, but probably won't go too far into it because, you know, I'm a mama bear and my kids come first.”
Despite the split, Clarkson reassured viewers that she is dong “okay,” adding, “Music's always been my outlet to help me get through difficult times.”
Clarkson has also been leaning on her friends. Last week, Clarkson told “Sunday Today” host Willie Geist, “I've been talking to friends that have been through divorce. I don't know how people go through that without having some kind of outlet."
Along with calling divorce the “worst thing ever,” she said, “It's no secret — my life has been a little bit of a dumpster, personally. It's been a little hard the last couple months."
