Singer Ed Sheeran, 29, is a first-time dad!
On Tuesday, Ed took to Instagram to announce that he and wife Cherry Seaborn welcomed a baby girl, who they named Lyra Antarctica. He wrote on Instagram, “Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter - Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.”
Ed gushed, “We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back.”
Ed and Cherry were able to keep her pregnancy under wraps until just a few weeks ago. Earlier this month, a source told The Sun UK that she was due “later this summer.”
“Lockdown was a perfect excuse not to be seen out and about too much, but things are getting closer and the excitement has been building, so they have started telling friends and family,” the source added, “They’re just making the last of the preparations at home, and the baby is expected later this summer.”
It is no surprise that the couple were able to keep it a secret, having done the same with their wedding.
Ed finally confirmed his marriage in a July 2019 interview with iHeartRadio’s Charlamagne tha God. He later released a music video for “Put It All on Me,” which revealed they tied the knot in January 2019.
