Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas March for Black Lives Matter in Venice
Stars Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas joined protesters in Venice Beach, California, this week to march for George Floyd and Black Lives Matter.
The couple was photographed as Ana, wearing a mask, clapped, and Ben held up two signs. One sign showed support for saving the historically African-American First Baptist Church of Venice from demolition, while a smaller one read “Black Lives Matter.”
The @SavexVenice Twitter account shared the photo, writing, “March for #GeorgeFloyd in #Venice today. Blessed to have @BenAffleckexpress awareness and concern for the local Historic Black Community in #VeniceBeach that has been long ignored and obstructed by local politicians, LAPD, and commerce bullies. #SaveVenice #DefendOakwood.”
A friend of Ben's shared with People magazine, "Ben wants to continue to be a model for his children. They talk about these important issues."
Ben and ex-wife Jennifer Garner are the parents of Violet, 14, Seraphina, 11, and Samuel, 8.
Protesters around the country have been marching following the death of Floyd, a 46-year-old black man.
He died last Monday shortly after being arrested for a non-violent act in Minneapolis. Video of the arrest shows white police officer Derek Chauvin with his knee on Floyd's neck as Floyd says he can't breathe and pleads for help
All four officers involved in Floyd's arrest were fired, and as of Wednesday, all have been charged in his death.
