One Direction Sparks Reunion Rumors
Are the members of One Direction getting the band back together?
The group's 10-year anniversary is on the horizon in July, and Page Six reports they are working on something special with “ideas ranging from reuniting for a TV special to a new single.”
Fans also noticed that Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan have started following Zayn Malik again on Twitter. He has yet to follow them back, but all five are now following the One Direction account.
Zayn, of course, famously left the boy band in 2015.
Eagle-eyed fans have also noticed that the group's website is back up, and Apple Music is now using a photo that includes Zayn.
Since Malik's exit, the singers have all signed contracts with different labels, and a source tells Page Six, “There's still a long way to go and a lot of hurdles. Obviously, at the moment anything they do would have to be done virtually,” noting they will not be touring together. The insider added, “But there's a lot of goodwill between them now and they want to make something happen.”
Last week, Payne told The Sun they have been in touch, saying, “We've got a 10-year anniversary coming up, so we've all been speaking together a lot over the last few weeks, which has been really nice. There's a number of different things that we are all working on to try and make happen and people are forwarding emails around.”
The rumors have caused such excitement that they started trending with hashtags #OneDirectionReunion, #1DOnlineConcertStayAtHome, and #1DConcertOnlineStayAtHome.
The group announced their indefinite hiatus in 2016.
