Donald Trump Jr. Talks 'The View' Skirmish, Kanye's 'Guts'
Fresh off his contentious appearance on “The View,” Donald Trump Jr. and his girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle sat down only with "Extra's" Jenn Lahmers at Mar-a-Lago to promote his new book "Triggered: How the Left Thrives on Hate and Wants to Silence Us."
Explaining what happened on "The View," he said, "I expect at least one question about the book... They just came to attack 'cause they've been attacking my family for a while. For me, I don't care. I sort of figured I'm not getting invited back on anyway... They wouldn't even say my last name when we were on the show, so that sort of set the tone right off the bat — and it was all downhill from there."
Donald Trump Jr.’s Explosive Interview on ‘The View’
View StorySharing what was going on behind the scenes, Trump said, "There was probably about 150 people in the audience... Some of those people actually started sort of cheering for us, which was kind of unusual... But the rest of the crowd, apparently, I heard one of them actually started even engaging with Whoopi and there was, like, cursing back and forth... I guess it got pretty heated even after we left."
Taking on the reports that he had brought a group of President Trump donors to be in the audience, he said, "No, there were a couple of, they were friends of mine. Some of them are Trump donors. Some of them are not even donors."
Trump also weighed in on the news that Kanye West intends to run for president in 2024. Asked if the Trumps will support Kanye, he said, "Well, I guess we have to see what the political positions are. I think Kanye's been great. I think what's most important about Kanye, like the Trumps, he's had the guts to actually take on the establishment. He doesn't just run with what the soundbites are or what Hollywood says or what a record label says... and that's what's sort of interesting."
He went on to talk about his recent tweet about Sean Spicer and “Dancing with the Stars.”
Don tweeted his support for the former White House press secretary last week, writing, “Guys get this going again for Spicy. The meltdown the Hollywood types keep having when he wins with your votes is soooo worth the time. Get on it!!!” Don told Jenn what he thinks about the controversy surrounding Spicer, who despite not being an exceptional dancer continues to take home the votes.
Trump said, “If the Democrats can't get Sean Spicer off 'Dancing with the Stars,' how are they going to win 2020? They got a lot of outrage that… they can't get him off of this show… So it's pretty funny to watch.”
Don Jr. and Kimberly have been on the road promoting Don's book, and he said being thrown into politics has taken a toll on him. "I mean, the whole book 'Triggered' is really about that, right?" he said. "It was sort of about this, just, amazing ride, having a front-row seat to I'd say the greatest political upset maybe ever."
