Big news for “This is Us” fans! The show has been renewed for three more seasons by NBC! “Extra’s” Renee Bargh was with the cast in New York after the news was announced.
Mandy Moore told us, “It’s really big! I think it’s all just hitting us.” She added, “I love these people so much. I am so excited I get to spend the next three years of my life with them— it’s the best job ever.”
Moore also dished on her vacation to New Zealand with Eddie Bauer guide Melissa Reid Arnot and upcoming travel plans.
“I absolutely fell in love with that country, it’s incredible… The hiking, if you are an adventure person, like I am, there is no better place… I am leaving on Friday to go to Nepal to do Everest base camp… We have four months off so I need to make the best of it before we go back to work for eight months.”

There a plethora of reasons #whyihike. It gives me grounding, connection, recalibration. There are oh so many metaphors for the challenges and discomfort that one may face on the trail that can be applied to life in a general sense. It can also be a time of quiet reflection, a time to drink in every frame of new terrain, to stand in wonder at the sheer beauty and magnitude of this planet.... it’s truly endless. This trip signifies all of that and more: it’s an opportunity to take a break from the chaos of the daily grind, travel to the other side of the world with some of my closest friends and to gently push ourselves out of our comfort zone. Day 1 was a soft landing: a leisurely hike through the verdant foothills of Mount Aspiring National Park. Day 2 of our trip to Wanaka meant a rafting excursion down the west branch of the Matukituki river before a helicopter trip up to the Alpine slopes surrounding us and a summit of Black Peak. Epic! Being in this magnificent country for the past week has consistently taken our collective breath away- I can’t wait for what awaits us next. Stay tuned!!! #whyihike #liveyouradventure
Sterling K. Brown was thrilled with the renewal news, saying, “It doesn’t happen that often. Nice to have job security. I am happy.” As for his character Randall and where his story will go next season, he smiled, saying, “I know exactly where it is going… I can’t tell you right now, it will ruin the surprise. I am happy to be building toward something… It’s nice to know we have three years to carry it out.”
Justin Hartley shared, “It’s good news… It’s good for us, obviously, it’s good for the fans knowing they can invest in something, knowing it’s going to be there for a while. It’s good for the writers — now they can go much deeper, knowing they aren’t writing a story that is 18 episodes, it is 54 episodes.”
Chrissy Metz said it is still sinking in and offered, “I did not expect that. Never knowing… if you are going to have that job for six months, a year… but three years!” She added, “To know where the story is going to go and all that — very exciting!”
Milo Ventimiglia confessed, “We all knew it was coming, so to see it actually announced, see the audience reaction all that, it was exciting.”
