“Extra’s” Tanika Ray sat down with Taraji P. Henson on the set of “Empire,” where she opened up about giving back to the community with her Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation.
The foundation, which was named after her father, aims to eradicate the stigma surrounding mental health issues in the African-American community. Along with stressing the need for more mental health professionals, she emphasized, “The first we have to do is talk about it, have open dialogue about it, that’s the only way you’re going to start to see change.”
To celebrate the launch of the foundation, Taraji will be hosting the special fundraising event “Taraji’s Boutique of Hope” in Beverly Hills on Saturday. The event will help raise money for increased mental health support in urban schools.
Fans who can't attend the event, can donate to her foundation via Prizeo. Give as little as $10 for the chance to attend her "What Men Want," premiere snap photos with Taraji, and more. Visit Prizeo for all the details!
