Erykah Badu Returns as Soul Train Music Awards Host
The 2016 Soul Train Music Awards, taped earlier this month in Las Vegas, are just around the corner. This year, godmother of soul Erykah Badu returned as host and really got the party started!
With her eccentric humor and legendary style, Badu made her grand entrance during a glow-in-the-dark performance, followed by a laugh-out-loud futuristic monologue. The singer revealed her recent time-traveling adventures, saying, “The future is black; forget 'The Jetsons,' it'll be more like 'The Jeffersons.'”
Dru Hill performed a medley of '90s R&B jams including “Tell Me,” “In My Bed,” and “Beauty,” with lead singer Sisqó then performing his mega-hit “Thong Song."
Other performers, along with Badu herself, include Brandy, Anderson Paak, Bobby Brown, D.R.A.M., Mase, Doug E. Fresh, India Arie, BJ the Chicago Kid, Guy, Candice Boyd, Carl Thomas, Eric Benét, MAJOR., Ro James, Tito Jackson, V. Bozeman, Wreckx-n-Effect, and Yuna.
The 2016 Soul Train Music Awards will air on Centric and BET Sunday, November 27, at 8:00 p.m. ET.
