Jennifer Lopez Reflects on What She Wore the Day She Gave Birth to Twins
Jennifer Lopez is the true definition of a triple threat, singing, acting, and dancing her way through a 20-plus-year career. The 47-year-old is adding one more accolade to her growing résumé: shoe designer for Giuseppe Zanotti.
Showing off her gorgeous gams and sexy stilettos, Lopez is gracing the pages of Harper's Bazaar's December/January issue, where she talks all about the collection and her personal style through the years.
Jennifer has always had great style — from her shimmering red-carpet dresses to her street-infused fashion, she is always dressing to impress. She reminisces how fashion brings back memories for her, saying, "If you hear a song from a certain time and you're like, 'Oh, my God!,' it takes you back to that period in your life. I do the same thing with my closet. I walk in and I see a hat or a pair of shoes or a coat, and I go, 'Wow! I remember I was wearing that the day this happened,' or, 'I was walking down the street,' or, 'I heard this,' or, 'my mom said that,' or 'my boyfriend…' You know what I mean? And 'I was dating so-and-so…' I think of the day my kids were born. It was in the middle of a snowstorm, and I wore this big, white fur coat. I was huge, and it was the only coat that would fit me.”
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree — Jennifer's daughter Emme has her own sense of style. “She loves fashion. She was wearing my shoes as soon as she started walking. She's actually learning to sew already. Who knows? We may have a little designer on our hands.”
With her new venture, Giuseppe for Jennifer Lopez, available come January, the “Shades of Blue” star tells the magazine, “I have a certain sensibility about the way I dress and design, and I just kind of handed that to him. People really associate me with sparkle and a little bit of street edge and things like that. I wanted to make sure the collection had that, but then some [styles] feel very glam and high-end fashion.”
The two have a long friendship, so it was inevitable they would work together one day. "I first met Giuseppe years ago, and I remember him just being a really sweet spirit. He came to my house. Even back then we talked about doing a collaboration together. We talked about different things, a music video I was about to do, all kinds of stuff. He went through my closet, and we sat in there. We were supposed to just meet and say hello, but he would up staying for hours, and we just talked fashion. He was like, 'Oh, my gosh! You have those shoes? They only made 10 of those!' I've been a huge fan of his for a long time."
