Sipping $500K Champagne: Inside A-Rod's Retirement Party
On Friday, Alex "A-Rod" Rodriguez celebrated his retirement from pro baseball after an incredible 22 seasons, including 12 with the New York Yankees.
The festivities took place at New York hot spot Up&Down, and was thrown by Richie Akiva. Also spotted in the crowd: PartyNextDoor, Michael Shannon, Myles White, Rita Ora, Karrueche, kent Jones, and many top athletes.
Jamie Foxx — fresh off a surprise duet with Barbra Streisand at her first of two concerts in Brooklyn the night before — performed for the crowd, which lost it while watching video of A-Rod's 3,000th hit and many World Series triumphs.
The crowd danced to hits by Kanye West, Drake, and Jay Z, who ordered A-Rod a $500,000 bottle of Ace of Spades champagne.
Later, A-Rod, PartyNextDoor, football star John David Washington, and NBA player Tony Allen partied at 1 Oak, where Nas sang.
It's good to be A-Rod!
