Rihanna to Receive the Video Vanguard Award at the 2016 MTV VMAs
Rihanna is set to take the stage at this year's MTV VMAs to receive the iconic Video Vanguard Award. The "Work" and "This Is What You Came For" singer is also nominated for four Moonmen at this year's show. RiRi is joining the club of former recipients like Kanye West, Beyoncé, and Justin Timberlake.
The Video Vanguard Award is only given to musicians who are said to have made a profound effect on MTV culture, which Rihanna has clearly done over the years.
Rihanna, who is always "work, work, work"-ing hard, is currently on tour for her album “Anti," but took to Twitter to confirm her attendance at the ceremony, writing, "Honored to take the #VMAs stage."

@rihanna
We are just hoping that she will actually perform after she accepts the award, unlike last year's recipient, Kanye West, who instead took his performance time to announce his 2020 presidential run. Watch his speech here.
Catch the show at 9 p.m. on August 28.
