Lilly Wachowski Makes First Appearance Since Transitioning
Transgender "Matrix" series co-director Lilly Wachowski (formerly known as Andy) appeared Saturday night at the 27th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in L.A., her first public event since transitioning.
Dressed in a floor-length formal gown, she accepted an award for Outstanding Drama Series for her Netflix show "Sense8." Wachowski — whose work with her now sister, Lana, who is also trans — reflected upon their long directorial careers.
She said, "While the ideas of identity and transformation are critical components of our work, the bedrock that all ideas rest upon is love."
