Pierce Brosnan Explains Why He Was Carrying Knife in Vermont Airport
On Monday night, Pierce Brosnan took a moment to chat with “Extra's” Renee Bargh on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of his new film, "No Escape."
During the interview, the 62-year-old actor set the record straight about being stopped last week at a Vermont airport security checkpoint for reportedly carrying a 10-inch knife. He explained, “I don't think it was 10 inches of a knife. I'm a painter. I'm an artist, so I had my pencils. the knife just went into the bag, you want to keep your pencils sharpened.”
In happier news, Pierce and his wife, Keely Shaye Smith, recently celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary. He gushed, “We've been together 21 years… Keely and I are still going down the road and plotting and scheming.”
He also revealed their secret to staying together. "We like each other, we really like each other. We love each other, we know how to solve problems."
While Pierce was promoting "No Escape," a movie about an American trying to get out of Asia amid a political uprising, the world was rocked by news of the Bangkok terrorist bombings. Brosnan said, “I just heard this tragic news, so my heart goes out to the families."
"No Escape" opens in theaters August 26th.
