Producer Ryan Seacrest to Debut New Reality Series About Transgender Parents
Ryan Seacreast is the producer behind the hugely successful reality series “Keeping up with the Kardashians,” and starting tonight, June 8, he's debuting a new, unscripted series for ABC Family that will focus on two teenagers and their transgender parents.
“Becoming Us” primarily focuses on 16-year-old Ben Lehwald, an ordinary Midwestern teenager going through a unique situation. After his parents' recent divorce, Ben learned that his dad is transitioning into a woman, Carly. In the first episode, Ben's then-girlfriend, Danielle Molnar, wants to introduce Carly to her father, who is also a transgender woman.

In the 10-episode series, Danielle and Ben's common experience allows them to lean on each other for support, and share their story with other kids or parents who are going through transition.
The show's debut comes just one week after Caitlyn Jenner debuted on the cover of Vanity Fair, and next week's season three premiere of Netflix's “Orange Is the New Black,” starring transgender actress Laverne Cox.
Don't miss the “Becoming Us,” Monday, June 8 on ABC Family.
