Morning Show Wars: Michael Strahan’s Gig on ‘GMA’?
It's almost official! Michael Strahan is reportedly joining “Good Morning America”!
The “Live with Kelly and Michael” host will be working part-time on the ABC show semi-regularly during the first hour, according to reports. The announcement comes after the departures of weatherman Sam Champion and anchor Josh Elliott.
Michael addressed the rumors on his talk show Wednesday morning. "The big news is that I'm gonna be on 'GMA' now,” adding that he was shocked to find out the news had leaked.
“So what is so surprising is I had a meeting, and we talked about the possibility there, and then I went to see 'Captain America' with Samuel L. Jackson, and I get out of screening and I check my messages and I'm on 'Good Morning America.'"
Michael told Kelly to rest assured that he will always put their show first.
"I just want everyone to know and [Kelly] to know that no matter what, this is my number one priority, and you [Kelly] are my number one priority, and I would never do anything to jeopardize the quality of what I do here."
In reply, Ripa quipped, "That is exactly how we rehearsed it backstage."
if Strahan, who is supposedly still in negotiations, takes the gig, he will join cast members George Stephanopoulos, Robin Roberts, Amy Robach, Lara Spencer and Ginger Zee.
