Zac Efron Talks Rehab Stint in 'Awkward' Interview
Actor Zac Efron, 26, hasn't spoken about his stint in rehab… until now. During a stop at the “Today” show with his “That Awkward Moment” co-stars, Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller, anchor Savannah Guthrie asked him about his recovery.
Efron answered the question like a public relations pro, explaining, "I'm in the best place I've ever been. I've never been this happy before and I'm extraordinarily grateful for these guys and to be here promoting this movie. Things are good so thank you for asking."
People magazine also asked him about rehab at a press conference, he replied, "I'm so happy. I feel like I'm in a great place… it was an interesting year. I learned so many things. So much. The best part of it was being able to reflect upon that experience and realize how much I have learned about myself and the kind of man I want to be."
In September, news broke that Zac had reportedly made two trips to rehab in the spring of 2013 for cocaine addiction.
Afterward, Zac stayed mum about his troubles – aside from a tweet thanking fans for their support.
Then, in November, he slipped in a puddle at his home and broke his jaw. The accident required that his jaw be wired shut, and promotion of “That Awkward Moment” was postponed.
