Katie Couric Says Marriage Proposal Took Her by Surprise
Daytime TV host Katie Couric wasn't expecting a ring from banker boyfriend John Molner on their beach vacation in East Hampton, so when he popped the question, Couric admitted she was “confused.”
Couric explained to People magazine, "He said that there was a reason he'd brought me there to the beach, and that he loved me and was committed to me, and I said, 'Yeah, I know that, you didn't have to bring me here to tell me that.'”
She continued, "Finally he said, 'Couric, I'm trying to propose to you,' and I was stunned."
Molner, 50, bent down on one knee and offered up a gorgeous diamond ring. Katie, 56, said, "It took me a while to say yes, because I was so confused! It took a long time for my brain to process what was going on."
The TV veteran admitted she wanted to find lasting love again. "I knew that I wanted this. I made it a priority, and I pursued it with some purpose."
