Alicia Silverstone Starts Breast Milk Share Program
Vegan actress Alicia Silverstone is looking for ways to help new moms... by sharing breast milk.
According to People, “The healthy living advocate just launched the Kind Mama Milk Share, a breast-milk sharing program that aims to pair moms in search of nutrient-packed breast milk with earthy, lactating moms who have a healthy supply to share.”
The "Clueless" star wrote on her website TheKindLife.com, “If you have milk to share – post it! If you are in need of milk – post it! Think of all the babies we can help raise together!”
Silverstone goes on to say that she was inspired to start the milk share program when a friend expressed frustration with not having a sufficient supply of breast milk to provide her son after breast-reduction surgery affected her milk supply. “A lot of women unfortunately have a similar struggle, and there's no reason why they shouldn't be able to give their babies the most amazing start in life with clean, mean, glorious breast milk.”
This isn't the first time Silverstone has proposed parenting advice that may provoke controversy. In 2012, she released a video showing her feeding pre-chewed food, by mouth, to her young son.
