Reese Witherspoon on Arrest: 'I Said Crazy Things’
Actress Reese Witherspoon knows she and husband Jim Toth were in the wrong when they were arrested in Atlanta last month, but she explains she “panicked.”
In an appearance on “Good Morning America” on Thursday, the Oscar winner described what happened when she and Toth were stopped while driving. “I saw him arresting my husband and I literally panicked. I told him I was pregnant. I'm not pregnant. I said all kinds of crazy things.”
Witherspoon's outburst resulted in her arrest on a disorderly conduct charge, while Toth was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and failure to maintain the lane.
The 37-year-old said, “It's just completely unacceptable, and we are so sorry and embarrassed. I think we made a mistake, and it was something that will absolutely never happen again.”
The actress, now starring in the movie “Mud,” was in Atlanta working on the film “The Good Lie.”
