Remains Identified as Alleged Cop Killer Christopher Dorner
The massive manhunt for former LAPD officer Christopher Dorner, a suspect in the shooting deaths of four people, including two police officers, has finally come to a definitive end.
Medical examiners confirmed that the charred body found in a burned Big Bear Lake cabin is Dorner. The identification of the rogue former cop was made through dental records, a spokesperson for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department told CNN.
On Tuesday afternoon, a suspect matching Dorner's description was spotted holed-up in a cabin in the Big Bear Lake area. When the sheriff deputies arrived, the suspect engaged them in a shootout, which killed one officer and wounded another.
A SWAT team was called in to storm the cabin, but by that time, the cabin was on fire. On Wednesday morning, investigators were able to recover Dorner's remains.
