Melissa Gilbert's 'Dancing' Emergency: Fellow Contestants Send Well Wishes
"Dancing with the Stars" contestant Melissa Gilbert was sent to the hospital Monday, suffering a mild concussion and whiplash from her paso doble performance with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
"She injured herself," host Tom Bergeron announced on the air, "and as a precaution she's gone to the hospital to get checked out."
Gilbert tweeted later, "I'm alright. Mild concussion and whiplash. Very soon I will be safely home resting and being taken care of."
Her fellow "DWTS" ballroom mates sent her get well messages. Jaleel White told "Extra" backstage, "I hope nothing too bad has happened to her."
Maks' brother Val, partnered with Sherri Shepherd, explained, "She hit her head. Through adrenaline she kept going, got up, got her scores, came upstairs, sat down, felt dizzy, nauseous, concussion-like symptoms."
"Extra's" own Maria Menounos said, "I'm really hoping she's okay."
Maria knows a thing or two about injuries. Dancing on fractured feet, Menounos said her cheering section helped get her through their sexy tango with Derek Hough, along with, "My bone stimulators, my calcium supplements and my tape job, courtesy of me."
As for the frontrunners, NFL player Donald Driver took the lead with 27 points, with Menounos and Roshon Fegan close behind with 26.
