'DWTS' Champ J.R. Martinez is 'Amazed' by Win
The new "Dancing with the Stars" champion J.R. Martinez talked backstage with "Extra" special correspondent Tony Dovolani after his big win, talking about how his mother was there to help celebrate!
"I was like, 'Where are you?'" Martinez laughed. "She's like 4'11", poor thing, hidden in the crowd. But it's amazing to think that 8, 12 years ago, she was teaching me how to walk after my injury in Iraq. Now to say I am of those winners on the show is amazing."
Runner-up Rob Kardashian said his family was the best support, telling him "You couldn't have done any better." How was Rob going to celebrate? "Thanksgiving with my family. That's my celebrating. I haven't seen my family and had a family dinner since the show started."
Ricki Lake, who took third in the competition, echoed the same sentiment. "I'm so happy to have Thanksgiving off. It's the first day off since August 22. Not even to eat. Just to sleep and to put my feet up."
Check out J.R., partner Karina Smirnoff and the whole "DWTS" gang, making an appearance on "Good Morning America" Wednesday!
As for the next season on "Dancing with the Stars," pro dancer Dovolani puts in his wish list. "I think it's time to get a male soccer player, like David Beckham! Maybe get Jennifer Aniston to be my partner, please. But I also think we should challenge Chynna's husband, Billy Baldwin."
