Playboy Hosts 'The Rum Diary' Premiere in NYC
The Big Apple premiere of "The Rum Diary," based on Hunter S. Thompson's novel, was hosted by Playboy on Tuesday night. Wearing his signature shades and hat, Johnny Depp and sexy co-star Amber Heard walked the red carpet at New York City's Museum of Modern Art.
The East Coast event marked the film's second premiere this month -- just a few weeks ago, Johnny and the cast attended the Los Angeles debut.
Playboy also hosted the after-party, held at Hiro Ballroom inside The Maritime Hotel. During the bash, Depp and his former "Pirates" co-star and pal Keith Richards took to the stage for an impromptu performance.
Playboy magazine has had a long history with the man behind the project, Hunter S. Thompson, having previously profiled the author, in addition to publishing several of his works, including "Scar Strangled Banner," (May 1988) and "Fear and Justice in the Kingdom of Sex" (January 2004).
Thompson committed suicide in 2005.
"The Rum Diary" pours into theaters Friday, Oct. 28.
