Gabriel Aubry was born in Montreal on August 30, 1976, one of nine children of French-Canadian parents. Between the ages of 3 and 18, he lived with five different foster families.
In 1995, Gabriel was discovered at a ski resort nightclub on the outskirts of Montreal, and was soon sent to New York for his first photo shoot as a model.

On March 16, 2008, Gabriel became a father when girlfriend Halle Berry gave birth to their daughter, Nahla Ariela Aubry, in Los Angeles.
