Exclusive: Heather Mills Sits Down with 'Extra'
It's the Heather Mills McCartney you've never met.
“I'm a good mother, I'm a good person,” she told our Dayna Devon. “I fell in love for the right reasons. I loved unconditionally, and it just didn't work out.”
When “Extra's” Dayna Devon sat down with the woman at the center of a media firestorm for her very first television interview, we were allowed the chance to meet the Heather Mills McCartney that only her closest friends and family know.
“If I was a gold digger,” Heather explained, “I would have a lot of money in my bank account.”
As for accusations that Mills is suffering from anxiety and weight loss, she pointed out the obvious.
“Of course I've been anxious from what I've been going through, I'm not going to deny that,” she said. “But the slimness, that's vegan. That's from being vegan.”
Heather, a crusader for animals and the handicapped, is now on a mission to share the benefits of going vegan with the world.
“It's so easy,” Mills insisted. “Everyone that spends a week with me goes, 'Oh my God, it's all about just educating yourself.'”
The more Heather warmed up to us, the more her compassion oozed out.
“I was just madly in love, blinded by love and totally, totally madly in love,” she said of her busted marriage to Sir Paul McCartney.
And contrary to the picture painted in the papers, Heather Mills is funny.
“I'm sitting on the chair lift, and I think my left leg feels really light,” she reminisced. “And then I go, 'Oh my god!' And my leg's just flying down the mountain!”
To get a sense of a day in the life of Heather Mills, the only thing you need to see is a video shot moments after she touched down in LA for our interview. The paparazzi stalked her from the airport all the way to her hotel.
Spies even eavesdropped on our interview with Heather and tried to sell the details to the London tabloids.
But for Heather, the intrusive paparazzi are a part of daily life.
“Every single day I wake up, and I can't go out. There are six or seven [paparazzi] outside,” she said, revealing that her daughter, Beatrice, “has to go out separately” because she doesn't have the strength to pull her through the often-rough crowd.
The going has only gotten rougher since Heather's split from Sir Paul six months ago. But the well being of Beatrice remains Heather's top concern, which is why Mills chose to wait so long to speak out.
But who's to blame for the bust-up?
“When all this happened, I just thought everybody would blame me,” Heather revealed. “So I sort of had my head down and people would come up and go, 'How are you?' I don't get any kind of 'ew' in the street from people. Nothing. I get nothing but support; people want to come up and give me a hug.”
And with her tumultuous divorce nearly behind her, will Heather ever marry again?
Tune in to “Extra” Wednesday to get the answer on this and more, as Mills spills the truth about her trainer. Are they now dating?
