Royal Romance! Norwegian Princess Martha Louise Falls in Love with American Shaman

Earlier this week, Martha announced that she is dating celebrity spiritual healer Derek Verrett aka Shaman Durek. Along with a series of Instagram photos of herself with the 44-year-old, she wrote, “@shamandurek has changed my life, like he does with so many. He has made me realize that unconditional love actually exists here on this planet. He embraces all of me without question or fear. He makes me laugh more than anyone, has the most profound wisdom to share and all the bits in between from the diversity of his being.”

Martha went on, “I feel so happy and blessed that he is my boyfriend. Thank you my love, for including me so generously into your family. I love you from this eternity to the next… All I know at this moment is that we love each other and I am super happy.”

The daughter of King Harald V and Queen Sonja also sent a message to anyone criticizing their relationship: “It is not up to you to choose for me or to judge me. I don't choose my man to satisfy any of you or the norms or boxes you have chosen in your mind for me to be in. I don't thrive there, nor do I exist in your illusion about me. I choose from love. And that's it.”

Durek shared his own Instagram post, professing his love for Martha. He pointed out, “There is a grace and beauty about life when you fall in love. Something softens in you that's unspeakable, however felt in the very depth of your soul. Then your eyes see more clearly yourself and everyone else with the same reflection the heart feels.”

He praised his girlfriend, writing, “This is what I feel from @princessmarthalouise, pure acceptance of my multidimensional self. Not just the Shaman, however the woman in me, the strong man in me, the little boy, ET, the jaguar, the scientist and the angel and more. All loved by this Goddess, who I honor and worship. Where I can cry in her arms when I'm sad or hurt and laugh about life and its many complexities. A strong woman who lets me be me without judgement or confinement.”

Along with wishing her a Happy Mother's Day, he raved, “A strong woman who lets me be me without judgement or confinement. I'm free when I'm with her, free to be me and love a women who is a bright light of wisdom and profound grace and immense beauty.”

Martha is the mother of Maud, 16, Leah, 14, and Emma, 10, her children with Norwegian author Ari Behn.

Ari and Martha were married for 14 years before they called it quits in 2016. The following year, she posted a meme asking Santa Claus for a new boyfriend. The image featured a figure saying “I want a unicorn for Christmas,” with Santa responding, “Be realistic.”

The figure emphasized, “Okay, I want a boyfriend.”

She used a few laughing emojis to caption the photo, adding, “#ChristmasWishes.” It looks like she got her wish!

In February, Durek opened up about their budding relationship. He revealed, “When I was a teenager. My mother told me that one day someone from her heritage in Norway would find me and bring so much joy in my heart. I asked her 'who mother'? 'She said a princess'. I laughed and said 'ok a princess whatever mother your funny' Well she was right my kindred spirit found me. @princessmarthalouise of Norway.”

Along with bringing attention to her “playful, insightful, spiritual, inspiring” nature, Durek emphasized, “We understand everything about each other and we have such a souls love for each other. When we are together we are home. ❤"

Durek has worked with some of Hollywood's biggest stars, including Gwyneth Paltrow, James Van Der Beek and Nina Dobrev. In a recent goop article, he discussed his line of work, saying, “I am known by many as the 'no nonsense' shaman. I'm not into fairy tales and fluffy bunnies. I'm into practical and easy solutions that are not convoluted, which is the basis of shamanism: I keep it simple and rooted in common sense. My sessions range from something as tame as just speaking and going through emotional transfusions to life-changing moments where clients literally puke up poisons, shake, and feel electric shocks in the body, detoxing on very deep levels. It depends on what the elders feel is most beneficial."

Durek and Martha are mixing business with pleasure. This weekend, they'll be kicking off a five-city tour together called “The Princess and the Shaman,” giving speeches on “challenging you to expand your horizon and will give you some tools on the road so you can get deeper into an understanding of who you are.”
