Actor Matthew Perry is on the road to recovery after undergoing surgery.
His rep revealed that the 48-year-old suffered a gastrointestinal perforation, telling "Extra" in a statement, “Matthew Perry recently underwent surgery in a Los Angeles hospital to repair a gastrointestinal perforation. He is grateful for the concern and asks for continued privacy as he heals.”
According to Healthline.com, a gastrointestinal perforation is a hole that forms “all the way through the stomach, large bowel, or small intestine.”
Over the years, Perry has been open about his health, even discussing his past battle with alcohol and Vicodin addiction. In 2013, he told People, “I couldn’t stop. Eventually things got so bad that I couldn’t hide it, and then everybody knew.”
