Many had speculated that the empty seat next to Prince William during Saturday's spectacular royal wedding was in honor of his and Prince Harry's late mom, Princess Diana.
While that homage turned out to be fake news — the seat was kept empty so Queen Elizabeth, in the second pew, would have an unobstructed view of the "I dos" — Meghan Markle did pay tribute to Diana in a most brilliant way.
The new aquamarine ring #MeghanMarkle wore tonight isn't actually new at all - it belonged to Princess Diana. We assume it was a gift from Prince Harry. Great spot, @saadsalman719 pic.twitter.com/Hr1mrbwN3g— Meghans Mirror (@MeghansMirror) May 19, 2018
Eagle-eyed royal watchers noticed that Meghan was wearing a familiar aquamarine ring when she waved to well-wishers while en route to her private evening reception. The beautiful ring did, in fact, belong to the original "People's Princess," meaning Harry probably gifted it to his bride in remembrance of his beloved mom.
People magazine reports Diana wore the emerald-cut aquamarine ring to a 1997 Christie's auction of her clothes, and that the ring is actually part of a set that includes a matching bracelet of aquamarine and pearls.
The rest of Meghan's reception look included a high halter-neck dress with a daringly open back, and custom satin Aquazurra shoes whose soles were painted baby blue. Her hair, by George Northwood, was a loose updo.
