Lorde Apologizes for ‘Insensitive’ Comments About Taylor Swift Friendship

“Green Light” singer Lorde is backtracking on her recent comments about her friendship with Taylor Swift.
Lorde received some criticism for comparing their friendship to an "autoimmune disease.” She told the Guardian, "It's like having a friend with very specific allergies. There are certain places you can't go together. Certain things you can't do. There are these different sets of considerations within the friendship. It's like having a friend with an autoimmune disease.”
When a fan pointed out that Swift's close friend Selena Gomez, who battles lupus, may not approve of the comment, Lorde apologized for the analogy. She tweeted, "didn't mention taylor, but regardless, i f**ked up & that was really insensitive. i'm sorry.”
Lorde and Taylor have become close friends over the years. Before Lorde's birthday party, Taylor wrote on Instagram, "Thank you for the music you make, the advice you give, the thoughts you provoke, and the way you've made my life more beautiful since the first day we met up in New York and ate burgers on a park bench and got attacked by squirrels. I. Love. You. So. Much. Ella."
