Mary J. Blige Throws Major Shade at Former Protégée for Wrecking Her Marriage
Singer Mary J. Blige is blasting her former protégée Starshell in her VH1 documentary "Strength of a Woman.”
During a chat with Ne-Yo, Blige opened up on her failed marriage to Martin “Kendu” Isaacs, who was her husband for 13 years. Calling out Starshell — whose name was bleeped in the documentary — she said, "All these years have come to this, like, you didn't even pick me, you picked somebody else. That sh* t is humiliating. It hurt real bad. But… they got beds, we gotta lay in it.”
"And just so we're clear… Do not let her anywhere near what you're doing for me, because she's the reason for all of this sh*t. That's my Becky with the good hair!” Blige told Ne-Yo, who is producing songs on her album.
Last month, Starshell's name came up in the middle of Mary and Martin's divorce drama. A source claimed that Isaacs cheated on Blige with Starshell, telling Page Six, "Everyone knew. Mary was the last to know, but it's like, 'How do you not know?'”
Another insider added, "It was more like one of those things where you end up believing what you want to believe. But Mary had her suspicions.”
In response to the cheating rumors, Isaacs' lawyer Robert Brandt said, “Allegations that have been made about Kendu are false, unfair, mean-spirited and sad. The court can deal with it if it's relevant. He's a very pleasant guy. He's not abusive. He's not the one going to the press. His goal is to reach an amicable resolution with her and [have] this commentary cease and desist. It doesn't help any of them. It's misleading. He cares about Mary. He wants her to do well.”
A college friend of Starshell recently shared, "She's not remorseful. She's just a poor girl from [outside of] Boston who slept her way to the middle.”
Starshell has denied the allegations in Mary's documentary, saying, "This is absolutely not true."
