Actress Melissa McCarthy channels a foul-mouthed, over-the-top Martha Stewart caricature in her new movie “The Boss,” but it is her personal transformation that has everyone talking.
The 45-year-old actress looked incredible at a press junket for the film. She lost a reported 50 pounds, and revealed there is no big secret to her weight loss. She told “Extra’s” Charissa Thompson it is actually her lifestyle that contributed to the change. “No trick, nothing to tell, just super boring life. You bring it real down, you don’t do anything fun and you go to bed at 7:30 — that's the trick.”
Raising her hands in the air, McCarthy smiled and said, “What! What!”
She went on to say her husband, Ben Falcone, will ask, "Is it five and are you in jammies?” to which she responds, "I’m gonna call them loungewear."
The actress-turned-designer, who launched her line Melissa McCarthy Seven7 last fall, wore her own clothes to the junket. “I’m wearing my own clothes every day of my life, which I never thought I would get to say.”
In “The Boss,” McCarthy is directed by her husband, who is also her co-star. She shared, “We had so much fun making this, this was dreamy.”
She gushed about Ben, “He's a real dreamboat, I don't know why he likes me, but he's great.”
Ben and Melissa are also parents to their two daughters Georgette and Vivian. On life at home, she dished, “It’s like a good, old-fashioned Calgon commercial where my 13-year-old dog keeps barking at, like, phantom noises… There’s kids screaming, there’s always something, it’s truly crazy, but I like chaos.”
Aside from “The Boss,” Melissa is also making fans crazy over the new “Ghostbusters” movie. “I’m so excited, it's awesome. We had such a blast making that movie and it's gonna show.”
For now, catch Melissa in “The Boss,” out in theaters on April 8.
