Lady Gaga on Her Super Bowl Performance: ‘I Just Sang from My Heart' (Exclusive)
Lady Gaga absolutely killed it at the Super Bowl with her stirring rendition of the National Anthem.
Gaga, who wore a glittery red Gucci suit on the field, chatted exclusively with “Extra's” AJ Calloway about her thrilling performance. Gaga shared, "It was really amazing, the athletes were just kind of majestic standing up there, singing for the fans in the stands and all over the world, it was so cool.”
She also revealed how she prepared to sing what is traditionally a difficult song. “I just thought about the lyrics and what they really mean. They've been around a long time, so I thought about what they mean now, I just sang from my heart.”
She continued, "It's kind of ancient history stuff, in the Greek and Roman history, performing for the greatest athletics in the world is the highest honor. I'm Italian and European, so for me it was such an honor as an American."
The 29-year-old raved that it was “so much fun” to see the jets flying overhead after she sang. “I promised myself I was going to look up to see them, because that would be the only time.”
Gaga was accompanied to the game by her mom, Cynthia, who added, “I'm very proud, but she was proud and honored to sing for her country.”
Though Gaga's fiancé Taylor Kinney was not at the big game, he was rooting her on from home.
