Jessa & Jill Break Their Silence About Sexual Abuse in TLC Documentary
Last night, Jessa (Duggar) Seewald and Jill (Duggar) Dillard teamed up to raise awareness of child sexual abuse in the one-hour documentary "Breaking the Silence."
In the TLC special, the sisters and other survivors told personal stories of childhood sexual molestation. The airing of the documentary follows Josh Duggar's confession in May that he molested Jessa and Jill when he was a teenager.
Jill said, "It's amazing to understand that there are so many people that deal with this exact same thing in their own families. So just being educated is very good."
Teri Hatcher and "Dancing with the Stars" pro dancer Cheryl Burke also discussed their experiences with abuse. Cheryl shared, "I'm only human, and sometimes the stuff I've gone through I think about all the time, and it just brings me back."
Jessa stressed that the topic needed to be openly discussed. "I feel like this should be a discussion people are having, even regularly. I think that it shouldn't be a taboo subject, that we should be bringing awareness to child sexual abuse and talking about this."
