Robin Roberts on GMA Return: 'I Was Struggling'
“Extra’s” AJ Calloway joined “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts at the Diller/von Furstenberg Family Foundation Awards, where the morning host received the Lifetime Leadership Award.
Roberts, who spent five months recovering from a bone marrow transplant, told AJ returning to "GMA" was not easy.
“The night before, I was really struggling, and my sisters were with me, and they gave me the best advice. They said, ‘Take your hands off the wheel and let them love you.' What you give, you receive tenfold, and I’m so grateful for that morning and every morning since.” She continued, “It will be a morning I will carry in my heart and my soul forever.”
As for being honored, Robin joked, “A lifetime achievement... come on... technically I'm only seven months old." She went on, "When Diane gave me the call, I was just floored… I’m just very proud to be included in the conversations with these dynamic women.”
