Will Smith Takes On Emotional New Role
In what some are calling the performance of a lifetime, Will Smith takes on a powerful and unforgettable role alongside his 8-year old son, Jaden, in the father-son drama, "The Pursuit of Happyness."
This emotional tale is the feel good movie of the year, and Will joined us to talk about the story that will most definitely tug at your heartstrings.
Big Willy also dished about joining Tom and Katie's wedding celebration.
"When you dream about a wedding, that's exactly what it looked like. Intimate, but in a castle; it was perfection," he said. "They know how to do it."
Will is all about family these days, as he and Jaden stepped out together to talk about their movie.
Based on the true story of Chris Gardner, Will plays a struggling dad who finds himself and his son homeless while he pursues a better life for them.
While Gardner himself may have speculated Will playing out his life story, the end product left no question in his mind as to Smith's acting abilities.
"It was my daughter who broke it down for me: If he could play Muhammad Ali, he could do me okay," Gardner joked.
Although Jaden's dad is the acting veteran, the big-screen newcomer admitted he had a thing or two to teach Papa Smith.
"You have to just go with the flow," the mini-Will said.
As for little Jaden, when he's not busy making movies with Dad, he told us, "I go on top of my bunk bed, and then I jump down!"
Jump into theaters when "The Pursuit of Happyness" opens Dec. 15.
