Ricky Schroder’s GF Says Alleged Domestic Violence Incident Was ‘Totally Blown Out of Proportion’
Actor Ricky Schroder was arrested twice in recent weeks for alleged domestic violence, but his girlfriend Jessica exclusively tells “Extra” that the situation was “totally blown out of proportion.”
She told us in a statement, “My name is Jessica and my boyfriend is Ricky Schroder. We are a couple working through normal relational issues and nuances unique to our relationship. The first incident led to Ricky placing a call to 911 and hanging up and then me placing a call. Again, we both called and asked for help mediating during an argument. Law enforcement had no good reason to arrest Ricky. No charges were filed. It's almost like they decided to take him out of an abundance of caution because that's what's expected.”
Jessica continued, “The second incident, here is what happened. We were having a late-night argument, Ricky went into the bedroom and laid down with his back to me. I followed and laid down behind him and when I touched him, he quickly reached behind himself trying to push me away and his elbow hit the side of my head hard. I was angry and called 911. I completely regret that. We went to bed and were woken up by law enforcement over an hour later. This is totally blown out of proportion.”
The original reporting says the L.A. County Sheriff's Department arrested Schroder on April 2 for allegedly punching his girlfriend in the face. Then, authorities received a call to Schroder's home around 12:30 a.m. on May 1. Deputy Juanita Navarro of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department told the Hollywood Reporter that there were signs the female victim had been involved in a physical altercation.
Schroder was taken into custody for suspicion of felony domestic abuse. His bail was set at $50,000 and the L.A. Daily News reports he was later released.
The 49-year-old shot to fame in the 1980s as the star of “Silver Spoons,” and went on to star in the miniseries “Lonesome Dove,” on the hits “NYPD Blue” and “Scrubs,” and in other projects.
