Tracy Morgan Makes Surprise Emmys Appearance to Present Final Award
Comedian Tracy Morgan is back in a big way!
Fifteen months after he was in a serious car accident, the former "30 Rock" star returned to the Emmys stage to present the final award of the night.
Morgan, who presented the Outstanding Drama Series award to "Game of Thrones," told the crowd, "Last year, Jimmy Kimmel said we'd 'see you here next year, Tracy Morgan.' Thanks to my doctors and my beautiful wife, I'm here standing on my own two feet. God bless all you for your love, prayers and positive thoughts... I'm honored to be here at the Emmys."
Poking fun at himself, Tracy said, "It's been a long road back. I suffered a traumatic brain injury that put me in a coma for eight days. When I finally regained consciousness, I was ecstatic to learn I wasn't the one who messed up."
He also joked that the ladies at the Emmys after-party better watch out because he's finally feeling like himself again.
According to Deadline.com, only five people knew about Tracy's appearance. Morgan and his publicist Lewis Kay worked with Emmys executive producer Don Mischer and Television Academy President Bruce Rosenblum to pull off the surprise. Tracy told the site about what it was like to take the stage, “It was overwhelming. I miss this stuff. I had to make sure I wasn't so emotional in the moment; I wanted to let them know I missed them very much.”
