Meryl Streep on Women Reportedly Wearing Black to the Golden Globes 2018
“Extra's” AJ Calloway was in Washington DC with Meryl Streep at the premiere of her new film, “The Post.”
Streep, who is nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance, said of reports that woman attending the ceremony will wear black in protest of the sexual harassment that has been exposed in Hollywood, “I don't know. I'm not talking. You gotta tune in, don't ya?”
What she will talk about is how much she loved working with co-star Tom Hanks and director Steven Spielberg! Meryl gushed, “I can't tell you how lucky I was to have [Tom] as a partner in this because he's just the best. And I never got to work with him ever before. Or Steven Spielberg… It's like a prom dream come true. Two dates.”
In the movie, Meryl portrays the late Washington Post publisher Katherine Graham, known as the woman who, at a critical moment, did the right thing for the free press and the Constitution. Meryl said, “It surely is a movie meeting its moment in history.”
The film comes at a critical time for women as well. Meryl shared, “Women are stepping forward and owning their space, long overdue, so I think it's a movie about both of those things.”
“The Post” hits theaters December 22.
