President Trump Hospitalized with COVID-19
Update: Trump's condition has been described in a variety of ways, but his doctor on Sunday insisted he is improving.
Less than 24 hours after news broke about his COVID-19 diagnosis, President Donald Trump has been taken to the hospital.
White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany revealed that Trump has been transported to Walter Reed hospital via helicopter. In a statement, she said, “Out of an abundance of caution, and at the recommendation of his physician and medical experts, the president will be working from the presidential offices at Walter Reed for the next few days.”
Trump also tweeted a video letting supporters know he was headed to the hospital, "I think I'm doing very well, but we are going to make sure things work out." He also gave an update on Melania, "The First Lady is doing very well."
The news comes just hours after Trump's physician reported that he was “fatigued, but in good spirits.”
Before his hospitalization, White House physician Sean Conley revealed that Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were “both well at this time, and they plan to remain at home within the White House during their convalescence.”
“Rest assured I expect the president to continue carrying out his duties without disruption while recovering, and I will keep you updated on any further developments,” Conley continued.
In an early-morning tweet Friday, President Trump confirmed that both he and First Lady Melania Trump had tested positive for the coronavirus.
“Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19,” he wrote. “We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!”Melania tweeted, “As too many Americans have done this year, @potus & I are quarantining at home after testing positive for COVID-19. We are feeling good & I have postponed all upcoming engagements. Please be sure you are staying safe & we will all get through this together.”
