Val Kilmer Struggles to Talk After Cancer Denial, Cancels Tour of Play
Last night, Val Kilmer made his first public appearance in Los Angeles after shutting down the cancer rumors.
Though he was on hand to present his one-man play "Citizen Twain," he struggled to speak to the audience, People magazine reports. While dabbing his mouth with a tissue, he revealed that he had to cancel his upcoming tour for “Citizen Twain,” saying, "I went into rehearsals down in Florida and started having trouble with my speech. Obviously I'm still recovering. My tongue swelled up and I canceled the tour. As I'm recovering I'm showing this.” Watch!
Last week, Kilmer cleared the air on the cancer rumors, writing on Facebook, "I have no cancer whatsoever. I still have a swollen tongue and am rehabbing steadily.”
His comments came just days after Michael Douglas claimed that Kilmer was battling tongue cancer. At a Q&A in London, Douglas said, "Val was a wonderful guy who is dealing with exactly what I had, and things don't look too good for him. My prayers are with him. That's why you haven't heard too much from Val lately.”
