Ben Affleck Leaving Batman Role? 'Let Me Be Very Clear...'
At Comic-Con in San Diego on Saturday, Ben Affleck took on the rumors that he plans to fly the coop on his role as Batman.
Us Weekly reports the latest in a long line of Caped Crusaders was adamant about his affection for the iconic role. "Let me be very clear," he said while on a panel to promote his "Justice League" appearance, "I am the luckiest guy in the world. Batman is the coolest part in the universe."
If that doesn't sound emphatic enough, he went on to say, "I'm so thrilled to do it. It's f*cking amazing."
Holy four-letter words, Batman!
The rumors were kicked up by a THR report claiming Warner Bros. was seeking a new, younger Batman. Affleck turns 45 in August, making him the oldest actor ever to play the part.
On Wednesday, Affleck announced he was leaving the Netflix film "Triple Frontier" in order to spend time with his family and focus on his personal wellness. That, on top of his previous departure as the director of the next Batman flick, lent credence to the possibility that a new Batman could be on the dark horizon.
Affleck seemed to be pushing back on the rumors, later telling the Comic-Con crowd he loves "being able to say, 'I'm Batman.'"
"Justice League," featuring Affleck's third caped performance, is in theaters November 17.
