New Developments on Bobbi Kristina: Family Remains Hopeful Despite Dire Circumstances
UPDATE: Bobbi Kristina is showing signs of improvement, says TMZ. A source told the site that doctors have been performing tests Monday, and have determined the swelling in her brain has gone down. She is reportedly moving her eyes as well.
Whitney Houston's family also released a statement to E! News, saying, "Bobbi Kristina is fighting for her life and is surrounded by immediate family. As her father already stated, we are asking you to honor our request for privacy during this difficult time. Thank you for your prayers, well wishes, and we greatly appreciate your continued support."
Although reports say Bobbi Kristina Brown has "significantly diminished" brain function after being found facedown in a bathtub on Saturday, her family is “praying” Bobbi's condition will improve.
The 21-year-old daughter of Whitney Houston is reportedly in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator. TMZ reports that doctors have told her loved ones it does not look good, but a family source told People.com that they are "praying, hoping for the best."
Bobbi Kristina's father, Bobby Brown, rushed to be by her side, flying from L.A. to Atlanta on Tyler Perry's private jet. Brown issued a brief statement on Sunday: "Privacy is requested in this matter. Please allow for my family to deal with this matter and give my daughter the love and support she needs at this time." RadarOnline.com reports Brown is "inconsolable" at the prospect of losing his daughter the same way he lost his ex wife, Whitney Houston.
On Saturday, Nick Gordon, whom she referred to as her husband even though they were never legally married, was seen looking anxious outside the hospital, with his hood up and a phone in his hand. See the pics here.
According to police, there were no drugs found at Bobbi's house following a preliminary investigation. A police spokesperson told UsWeekly.com, "We don't leave any stone unturned," Holland said of the procedure. "So the police took a search warrant on the home. Before the warrant, initially when the police went into the home there were nothing there that indicated that anything out of the ordinary happened. There were no drugs out in the open."
Bobbi's cousin told E! News on Saturday that "Krissi doesn't do drugs" and also "hasn't been drinking." He added, "It's a rough time lately with the anniversary. So this is a blow to the family."
Whitney died at age 48 on February 11, 2012, after being found unresponsive in a Beverly Hills hotel bathtub, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner's report said that heart disease and cocaine played a part in the death of the singer.
