Abby Lee Miller Reports to Prison
Former “Dance Moms” star Abby Lee Miller has reported to prison in Victorville, California, reports Us Weekly.
The reality star arrived to FCI Victorville correctional facility around noon, two hours before her deadline, to begin serving a 366-day sentence.
Miller pleaded guilty to concealing bankruptcy assets, and one count of not reporting an international monetary transaction.
In addition to one year and one day behind bars, Abby Lee's sentence includes two years of supervised release, a $40,000 fine and $120,000 judgement.
Miller spoke with “Extra” last month at her Santa Monica dance studio, Abby Lee Dance Company, where she admitted she is scared of prison.
“It's a little surreal,” she said, adding, “People have said, 'Okay, keep your mouth shut, stay to yourself. If there's an argument, if something's going on, just look the other way, walk away.' That's not me!”
She continued, “So many things scare me.” She elaborated, “Am I able to wear socks to bed when I sleep at night? Because my feet cramp. Yup, I know that may sound silly, but that is an actual fear.” Revealing more serious fears concerning her safety, she told “Extra” she is worried about “Rape, molestation, sexual harassment… I don't want anyone to think I'm patting myself on the back — I'm not. I hope that, you know, they're like, 'Ewwwww...'”
The 51-year-old was charged with attempting to hide $775,000 in secret bank accounts. Miller maintained her innocence, commenting, “I'm just a nice Catholic girl from Pittsburgh… I know that I am not a criminal mastermind.” Blaming it all on the staff she says mismanaged her money, she said, “I listened to the wrong people. I trusted people.”
Getting emotional, Miller shared, “I just never had to take care of the money, so I didn't. I put someone else in charge of that, and that was wrong. I was so worried about the dancing and worried about these kids that aren't my own kids and making them winners, that I didn't worry about my own win in business.”
