Who Wants ‘19 Kids & Counting’ Canceled? Duggars Face More LGBTQ Backlash
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, stars of the TLC “19 Kids and Counting,” issued a kissing challenge a week ago via their Facebook page, but caused controversy when they reportedly deleted pics of same-sex couples sharing a kiss.
Now Jim Wissick of San Jose, CA has started a petition called “End LGBTQ Fear Mongering by the Duggars,” asking TLC to cancel the show.
Wissick wrote, “The Duggars have thrown massive amounts of money … so business owners and landlords can evict and fire people solely over gender identity and sexual orientation! They need to be taken off the air!”
In response to the criticism, the Duggars quoted Bible verse, which read, “But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”
The reality TV stars added that this is “a sweet scripture that we hold dear,” and “a reminder of how we must always carry ourselves,” saying that they're committed to “treating others well even if we don't agree with them, and… will do so without hateful words.”
At this point, more than 5,000 people have signed Wissick's petition.
Meanwhile, Jill and Derrick Dillard talk about married life in a series of videos on the Duggar's family blog. They are expecting their first child next year.
