Will TLC Cancel '19 Kids and Counting' ... or Fire Josh Duggar?
TMZ is reporting that TLC has three options when it comes to handling the rapidly expanding child molestation scandal engulfing series regular Josh Duggar, and all three have their drawbacks.
The show could go on as is, which would imply that TLC accepts Josh's apology for acting "inexcusably" as a teenager and has since moved on from that period; the show could be cancelled, which would make a strong statement considering it is a ratings powerhouse with a so-far supportive Evangelical Christian fan base; or the show could go on, minus Josh, which would indicate that the network had no problem with Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's knowledge and cover-up of the situation.
So far, TLC hasn't indicated how it will handle the scandal going forward, other than pulling the series while opinions are formed. The network recently cancelled "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" after Mama June Shannon was linked to a convicted sex offender.
Josh has admitted to sexually molesting five girls as a teenager, two of whom were reportedly his own sisters. His wife, Anna, strongly supports him, and told People magazine that she knew about the incidents before marrying and having children with him.
He has stepped down from his job as a lobbyist for the conservative Family Research Council and just quit a speaking engagement on the benefits of home schooling that was to have happened next week.
