Rosie O’Donnell’s Ex-Wife Michelle Rounds Dead at 46
Rosie O'Donnell's ex-wife Michelle Rounds has passed away at age 46.
TMZ reports that Rounds was found dead at her Florida home in an apparent suicide.
Rosie told "Extra" on Friday afternoon, "I am saddened to hear about this terrible tragedy. Mental illness is a very serious issue affecting many families. My thoughts and prayers go out to Michelle's family, her wife and their child.”
According to her obituary, Michelle "died unexpectedly at her home on Monday." Her family will hold a private memorial.
The District Nine Medical Examiner's Officer told "Extra" an autopsy was performed, but that it could take up to three months for a report to be available.
The Orange County Sheriff's Department told us, "Michelle-Rounds-Monteleone was discovered deceased on September 11, 2017 at 7:07 a.m... This is an open and ongoing death investigation and no there details are available for release at this time."
After two years of marriage, Rosie and Michelle split in 2014 and their divorce would become finalized in March 2016. At the time, “Extra” caught up with Rosie and Michelle outside an NYC courtroom and they both expressed how happy they were after their divorce. Watch.
Michelle's mom wrote in a statement, "If anyone would like to give to the National Suicide Prevention it would also be greatly appreciated. There are so many out there in this world that have demons that they think suicide is the only way out…"
Two years ago, TMZ reported Rounds attempted suicide by overdosing on pills and was rushed to a hospital in New York. Rosie was reportedly on the phone with Michelle before she was taken to the hospital.
