Richard Swift of Black Keys and Shins Dead at 41
Musician Richard Swift died Tuesday morning in Tacoma, Washington, Pitchfork reports. He was 41.
Swift was a singer, songwriter, and producer who played multiple instruments. He toured with the Black Keys as a bassist, was a former member of the Shins, and was a member of the Arcs at the time of his death.
Dan Auerbach, guitarist and vocalist for the Black Keys, confirmed the news on Instagram. He wrote, “Today the world lost one of the most talented musicians I know. He's now with his Mom and Sister. I will miss you my friend.”
A post on Swift's official Facebook page also paid tribute with the message, “And all the angels sing 'Que Sera Sera.'"
A GoFundMe page that was launched last month revealed that Swift had been “hospitalized due to a serious medical condition” and was being treated in Tacoma.
